Valduero Lantigua 1991

Valduero Lantigua 1991
A very rare and limited release from Valduero. Pale and tawny in colour with a pale amber rim, this is fragrant with aromas of black olives, dried earth, cocoa, coffee, and leather. On the palate, full-bodied and concentrated with a little viscosity, silky tannins and fresh acidity. A hint of primary fruit lingers with hints of plum and black cherry, but otherwise the palate has evolved into a fascinating super-savoury territory with balsamic notes, tar, coffee, and nuts which slowly develop as the wine unfurls slowly on the palate with enormously long length. Lantigua 1991 is a remarkable wine which, at 33 years old is still full of life, leaving an overall impression of impressive concentration, complexity and intensity combined with fabulous elegance and finesse that surely mark it out as one of Spain’s greatest red wines of the moment.
