Painted Rock Estate Grown Syrah 2013

Aged 18 months on 30% new oak, of which 80% French and 20% American, and 70% second fill French Oak. Aromatics of fresh cracked black pepper, violets and wild herbs. Sweet and ripe berry flavours with cocoa and spice and a touch of oak vanilla. Rounded and rich on the palate, with juicy acidity, chalky tannins and a long finish.

"Spectacular BC Syrah with savoury herbs, cedar brush, fresh earth, wild dark berries and spice. Wowsers! Stay with me here, but this wine also smells like marijuana ina seductively complex way. Cannabis actually has a complex array of aromas from its terpines: you'll get rosemary, black pepper and others that are also the basis for essential oils. It's definitely there on the nose of this wine and I love it. Pair this with more Syrah ... ." Natalie Maclean
