André Perret Condrieu Chéry 2021
One single hillside vineyard produces this wine, south-southeast facing with 50 year old vines on crumbly and granitic soils with mica and schist. ⅓ matured in stainless steel for 12 months, ⅔ in oak with regular bâtonnage.
The "basic" Condrieu is hardly lightweight, but Chéry takes the concentration and richness to another level entirely. Intense, peachy, floral aromatics lead to a very concentrated, almost viscous, intense palate with explosive flavours of custard-apple, peach and vanilla, creamy texture, and very long length finishing with a burst of fresh aciidity. Spectacular.
