This Merlot was pumped over or punched down by hand two times per day in small stainless steel tanks. After pressing, settling, and racking the various lots were moved to French barrels for aging and maturation. In the summer of 2012, following final racking, the wine was assembled and bottled and laid down in our cellars for additional development. The wine shows extraordinary complexity with higher toned fruit with nicer acidity than several recent vintages. The Weinbau Vineyard has produced a complex flavour profile of generous cherry, spice and coffee while the Woodward Canyon property offers more earth with notes of toasted coconut and vanilla in the aromas. Rich fruit and fully mature tannins make this wine generous and balanced enough for drinking now, yet with the proportion and structure enough to age well for six to eight years.
