La Spinetta Barolo Garretti 2013
From younger vines in the Campè vineyard in Grinzane (which are nevertheless 30 years old) than the Campè Barolo itself, and designed to be approachable in its youth. Aged in large 600L barrels of 50% new and 50% one year old, medium toasted French oak barrels for 20 months. Aromas of blackberry and subtle mint, the palate shows minerality, with lingering hints of spice and red cherries, fine tannins and considerable elegance.
"Nectarine and peach fruit with sweet spices and strawberry hints on the complex nose. Ripe and full with pretty blue and black flavours and rose petals. Spicy-toned finish with good firm tannins." Decanter Magazine, Aug-15, 17.75/20
