Iron Horse Classic Vintage Cuvée 2010
A ‘classic’ blend of Pinot Noir (69%) and Chardonnay (31%) with over three years on lees, ‘Brut’ level dry. Rich, creamy and delicious with precise, pinpoint bubbles. Hand harvested Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed as whole clusters yielding base wines of great delicacy. The juice ferments slowly at 62° to 65°F retaining vibrant fruit esters. No malolactic fermentation. In blending this wine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay lots were chosen that were a bit shy by nose with a touch of fruit forwardness resulting in a sparkling wine that shows wonderful complexity and is rich, nutty and toasty with a hint of fruit. Aromas of rising dough, orange marmalade and baked apple, flavours of ripe red apple, mandarin orange and hazelnut.
RS: 8.3 g/L; TA: 8.7g/L; pH: 3.08; Alc. 13.5%. Disgorged July 2015.
