| Migration Pinot Noir |
|
Migration is dedicated to exploring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions. This exploration began in California’s acclaimed Anderson Valley, where cool nights, clay soils and fog-enveloped mornings helped to shape a refined and compelling style balancing vibrancy and finesse. Following in this tradition, this lush, complex wine highlights signature Anderson Valley elements of dark cherry and ripe wild strawberry.
Despite frost and fire, 2008 was another great year for growing Pinot Noir in Anderson Valley, delivering excellent yields and a beautiful array of fruit. Harvest started on September 9th at the Confluence Vineyard, moved to Gowan Creek, and concluded at the Narrows and Abel vineyards on October 23rd. The beauty of the 2008 harvest was the range of styles it produced. As these vineyards continue to mature, their identities are becoming clearer and clearer, allowing the production of both complex, layered blends, and site-specific wines embodying a focused sense of place.
Notes
The 2008 growing season yielded a very complex and complete expression of Migration, with a rich, seamless entry, well-integrated tannins and a harmonious balance between fruit, texture and spice. The nose displays bright cherry, strawberry compote, violet and rhubarb layers, alongside more exotic elements of Asian spice, hickory, earth and roasted meats. These aromatics are echoed on the palate, and further supported by juicy acidity and notes of strawberry, plum, toffee, pie crust and a hint of white pepper.
