98% of the grapes that make this wine are grown in the cool Sonoma Carneros Vineyards. The combination of warm days, foggy mornings and cool evenings make the Sonoma appellation some of the most highly regarded vineyard land in California. What these vineyard conditions translate into for the Syrah is a deep concentration of fresh blueberry fruit, dark colour and supple tannins.
The hillside Syrah is one of the last vineyards to be harvested each year. The grapes were hand picked and arrived at the crush pad in good condition – showing no signs of rot. The wine spends 14 months in French oak with a dark toast level.
