Jacquart was founded in 1962 when around thirty growers combined forces to create a prestige quality Champagne house. It is now formed of 600 growers accounting for 10% of the total Champagne appellation. Their vineyards are spread across the whole of the region and include 22 rated as Premier Cru and 10 as Grand Cru. This great wealth of vineyard means that every year Jacquart’s winemaker has a vast array of wines from which to select for his blends: a sure guarantee of quality year in, year out. The Brut Mosaïque NV is a lively wine with a fresh, fairly intense palate and a fruity perfume. 50% Chardonnay, it is well balanced, very overtly attractive and is a recipient of a prestigious Coup de Coeur in the Guide Hachette 2005. The vintage Rosé is a lovely salmon pink with a creamy softness of texture and overtones of crystallised cherries, wonderful as an apéritif or dessert wine, while the 1996 Brut Mosaïque has a richness and nutty complexity. The Côte des Blancs is where Jacquart’s vineyards are concentrated, and that make them singularly well qualified to produce one of the best Blanc de Blancs around. Normally served as an apéritif, the depth of character of this wine means that it will contrast beautifully with sweet and sour dishes. Last and possibly best, the multi-vintage Brut de Nominée combines equal parts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in a display of freshness and power with a rich, gold colour, fresh, ripe aromas and impressive length.
